About myself
A Syrian born Kurd, Lauand and his family were forced to flee to Europe to avoid political persecution, they eventually settled in Germany in 1984. By 1995, Lauand Omar left for the Americas, where he pursued the entertainment and recreation industries in the US, Canada, and Mexico. He studied film and directed several short films, commercials, and music videos in Toronto and Miami, then in 2003 opened a night club in Acapulco, Mexico.
In 2005 he traveled to Kurdish controlled Northern Iraq, and began production on his first feature, Bekhal’s Tears, that dealt with controversial women’s issues in the Middle East., and became the first ever Kurdish Movie to be selected at an Arabic film festival (Emirates Film Competition 2006) followed by more screening and Film Festival worldwide.
Since then he has worked out of Dubai, where his eye for talent landed him the role of producer/director of high rated reality shows. Now he has settled in Morocco where he plans to focus his area of expertise in establishing a Casting and Talent Agency based out of Casablanca while preparing for more feature films.
